Let’s face it…our plug-in list can get pretty cluttered.

plug

There are hundreds of gizmos and widgets we can install that while giving us a great variety, they make the whole thing a little difficult to navigate.

Digidesign has given us some options for making the list a bit more organized; so let’s check those out.

Organize by manufacturer and/or type This is a simple preference that will set the plug-in list to be subdivided into folders representing the effect type as well as the manufacturer of origin. This is a huge help compared to the days of the “flat” plug-in list…especially if you have Cycling74’s Pluggo or one of the big Waves bundles.

Favorites Short of being able to create your own sub-folders to organize plug-ins in some way that works best for you, being able to set a plug-in apart as a favorite is the next best thing. When you find yourself reaching for a specific plug-in, try holding down the Command key (Control on Windows). You’ll then find that the plug-in is now sitting at the top of your plug-in menu, ready to be used.

Never fear…if you happen to put something up as a favorite and decide it’s not your best buddy anymore, just hold down the Command (or Control) key when you select it again and it’ll return to its life among the other sad souls made special only by their special task or their maker.
